![]() The film has lead so much of the general population to subconsciously assume that fetishes and kinks are taboo, in most regard, therefore must stem from emotional trauma, childhood, repressed issues, etc. There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with people if they’re into it. While fetishes arise from somewhere, it’s entirely misleading to assume that they all in the community are trying to work out some kind of repressed emotional damage. Yeah… something seems off about that.ĭeep-seated trauma is probably much more common amongst politicians, teachers, and dog walkers than it is those who are a part of the BDSM lifestyle and community. At every point, the storyline and awkward interactions between the two almost goes out of its way to make Grey seem like a hurt little puppy that can’t help how screwed up he is, but it’s okay because his violent, domineering persona is all part of his BDSM lifestyle. First and foremost, let’s get the obviously out there… BDSM is absolutely NOT a sign of something stemming from deep childhood trauma, abuse, or sociopathic tendencies like 50 shades eludes to far too frequently throughout the series. ![]()
